A study in the THP-1 monocyte/macrophage cell line examined Chonluten together with several other short bioregulator peptides. All of the peptides were reported to increase tyrosine phosphorylation of mitogen-activated cytoplasmic kinases, and Chonluten reduced TNF release from monocytes exposed to bacterial lipopolysaccharide. Differentiated THP-1 cells exposed to the peptides also showed reduced LPS-stimulated IL-6 expression and reduced adhesion to activated endothelial cells in co-culture.
